Skia ora %%First Name%%,
Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
You’ll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care. About some you will say, "I don’t choose to go there." With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
And you may not find any you’ll want to go down. In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town.
It’s opener there in the wide open air - Doctor Seuss.
When the good Doctor said 'Today' we actually mean Sunday. The weather is forecast to clear on Sunday for the last chance (for many) beautiful spring riding day on the slopes. It is not crowded at this time of year and the snow softens mid morning for THE best ski experience. Get motivated this Sunday and get yourself up the hill for a slide. You won’t regret it!!
Published proposed closing dates (pending snow conditions) are:
The Saturday Snowpark;
This Sunday Remarks, Coronet, Ohau, Mt Dobson, Mt Olympus, Porters and Rainbow;
Oct 14th Mt Hutt
Oct 22nd Whakapapa & Broken River.
Snovember 4th Turoa
If you’re in the shaky city then you’ll probably know that the Ice Fest is on this month. Get yourself down to the Ice Ring for a slide and note in your calendar the CHILL Film Festival. Check out the film previews on the Snow Sports Calendar.
The Grom Prix (The Jnr National Ski and Snowboard Champs) has been happening at Cardrona all week. This event has become the pinnacle junior age event (7 - 16yrs) and determines teams selection based on athlete rankings. The Junior Nationals is also the final of the SSNZ NZ Junior series events.
This weekend is the Peak to Pub race from Mt Hutt down to the Blue Pub. The Peak to Pub is back for its 13th year of snow, dirt, pavement, and everything in between! The race that promises to weed out the weak from the strong and those who coast from those who charge! Whether you’re competing or spectating this is a goodie!
After a successful event at Whakapapa last weekend RAL continue their fundraising for the Breast Cancer Foundation this Saturday with the Bikini Downhill. Get your gear off, your sunscreen on and help raising money for Breast Cancer awareness.
With the forecast the way it is check the reports for postponements until the Sunday; check out the [New Zealand’s only complete Snow Sports Calendar for more.

CALL TO VOTE: You choose. Tell us who shone and who stunk. Since 2000 online Snowco has published an independent survey, which asks the public to judge, based upon their experience the level of service that they have received during their visit to a ski or board area. The survey consists of 33 questions relating to the service received from the snow user across 9 departments that make up the front line of a ski and board operation. There are two awards, the NZ Ski Area Service Award for commercial ski areas and, the NZ Small Ski Area Service Award for club operated ski fields.
Remember your sunscreen and that melt freeze snow is best ridden on after the melt part. Get into it, take care and have a blast.
