Depending on where you are, this is the fourth weekend on a row that is going to be really great weather. A low in the North Tasman will move southeast over the North Island from late Saturday. There is a little wind and some precip. forecast for the north on Sunday. Apart from that it is looking like another GREAT weekend. Read more forecast information from snow-forecast below.

It's been a huge week with the K2 Big Mountain event being held at Craigieburn, and now the North Face NZ Freeski Open parks and pipe competitions at Cardrona. Treble Cone announced that their chairlifts will be smoke free from September and launched their new history book this week and, like most areas have had perfect weather since before last weekend. There was also the North Island inter-primary school champs at Whakapapa and, the Wanaka Dog Sled Festival at Snowfarm.

Saturday: Gay Ski Week starts in Queenstown, FIS level Slalom race at Treble Cone, CHILL Grom Fest at Porters, Quicksilver/Skullcandy rider cross at Broken River, Rangitira Alpine trophy at Whakapapa, the TRIC slopestyle series comp and, The Daffodil Day run up the road at The Remarkables
Sunday: Skin to the Summit at Coronet Peak, Winter Triathlon at Snowfarm.
From Monday: SPRING STARTS HERE. The North Face Freeski Open Big Mountain competition at The Remarkables and Treble Cone kicks off. Also, the North Island intermediate school champs are being held at Whakapapa. There's more FIS alpine ski racing at Coronet Peak and, if you hadn't realised,, some schools take a long weekend next weekend for mid-term break.
Feature Events: The North Face Freeski Open Slopestyle and Halfpipe at Cardrona this Thursday through to Saturday. The Southern Hemisphere’s biggest freeski competition is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2014 with The North Face® Freeski Open of New Zealand kicking off its park and pipe events from 28 – 31 August. Cardrona Alpine Resort will once again provide the competition venue for The Freeski Open of NZ; the resort’s world-class halfpipe and slopestyle course a familiar training ground for myriad Olympic and world cup medallists.

Saturday: Mainly fine. Northeasterlies strengthening in the north. FREEZING LEVEL: 1600 metres.
Sunday: Rain spreading south to Egmont, Tongariro and the Ruahine Ranges. High cloud increasing elsewhere. Strong easterlies. FREEZING LEVEL: Rising to 2200 metres.

South Island:

Kaikoura ranges: Becoming cloudy this evening and patchy drizzle developing overnight. Remaining South Island mountain areas: Mainly fine, areas of valley fog or low cloud morning and night. However, patchy drizzle developing about the eastern areas from Hanmer south to Hakatere Forest Park tomorrow afternoon. Winds: Light winds at first. Easterlies developing north of Mt Cook tonight and elsewhere tomorrow. FREEZING LEVEL: About 1600 metres.
Saturday: Mainly fine, areas of fog or low cloud morning and evening, and patchy drizzle about the Kaikoura ranges. Light winds. FREEZING LEVEL: 1400 metres in the north and east, 2000 metres in the south.
Sunday: Mainly fine with high cloud, areas of fog or low cloud morning and evening, and patchy drizzle about the Kaikoura ranges. Northeast breezes developing. FREEZING LEVEL: Rising to 2000 metres.
